We, Ganpat Metal Industries Duplex plate is formed from 2205 steel. In the 300 stainless steel series, there were a number of corrosion related problems that were being faced. In order to tackle these problems, a type of duplex stainless steel was developed, which was nitrogen enhanced and this was labeled as Duplex 2205 Sheet. Duplex is actually a kind of ‘family of steels’ that are not purely ferritic (such as 430 stainless) and neither are they fully austenitic (such as 304 stainless). Duplex steel plate is very good, as it combines the qualities of an austenitic alloy (which offers corrosion resistance, as well as ease of fabrication.), along with that of a ferritic alloy (alloys that have high strength and offer stress corrosion cracking resistance).

Duplex Stainless Steel plate is a highly cost effective solution for use in various types of applications, where the 300 series stainless steels are used and the use of them could result in chloride stress corrosion cracking. When stainless steels come into contact with solutions that contain chlorides, they undergo a great deal of tensile stress. As a result of this, stress corrosion cracking occurs. To prevent this kind of stress corrosion cracking from taking place, the solution lies in the use of Duplex 2205. 2205 Duplex Sheet contains around 40-50% ferrite, when it is in its annealed condition. Usage of 2205 Duplex Steel Plate is limited to temperatures less than 600° F. Duplex Steel S31803 Plate is the grade of stainless steels that belong to the stainless steels family and it happens to be the most widely used grade today and that is why it is known as the ‘Work Horse Stainless Steel Grade’.
