It is high alloy multi-purposes austenitic SS alloy for long term service in corrosive environments. This grade is known for strong resistance in strong acids such as sulfuric acids, nitric acids, phosphoric acids, and other harsh acids. These are very good resistive to stress corrosion cracking and intergranular corrosion in various environments. These are highly resistive to crevice and pitting corrosion cracking. It has good weldability it can easily be welded by all standard welding process.

It has austenitic microstructure hence it has very well impact strength both in moderate and cryogenic temperatures. The embrittlement caused by precipitation of the inter metallic phase, and then it should not be exposed to temperatures above 1110 degree F for a long time. These flanges are originally developed for use in the processing of chemicals such as phosphoric acids, nitric acids, sulfuric acids, and other harsh acids. These flanges can withstand very high temperatures in aggressive environments without being affected by pitting corrosion. It is alloyed with 27% of chromium and 31% nickel exhibits very good corrosion resistance also resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
