Although the Zeron 100 Super Duplex Cold Drawn Bar has a high tensile strength and toughness, using this super duplex stainless steel is not recommended when the application involves extended exposure to temperatures greater than 572° F . Exposure of Zeron 100 to elevated temperatures for an extended period causes a substantial reduction in toughness.

Chemically, the composition of both duplex stainless steel grade 2507 and Zeron 100 are similar. However, the alloy for Zeron 100 Grade Round Bar contains copper and tungsten added in trade amount. The copper content in the alloy permits excellent resistance to corrosion to many non-oxidizing and mineral acids like hydrochloric and sulfuric acid.

Another characteristic of the Zeron 100 F55 Round Bar is its high PREN number. The pitting resistance equivalent number or PREN indicates the pitting resistance value of the alloy. A higher PREN number indicates higher resistance to pitting.
